Shamika S. Carter BSN RN,

Shamika S. Carter is a dedicated gerontological nurse from Indianapolis with a passion for elder care. Raised in a Christian family, her values of faith and service shaped her career path. After graduating from Ben Davis High School in 2001, she pursued CNA training at Ivy Tech Community College and began her healthcare journey at Methodist Hospital. Shamika earned a degree in Public Health with a focus on Healthcare Administration from IUPUI in 2010 and later obtained her Accelerated Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Marian University in 2014. Her career includes roles at the VA Medical Center Indianapolis, where she worked in Patient Care Services and Nurse Recruitment before transitioning to Geriatric Primary Care. Shamika is certified in Gerontological Nursing (GERO-BC) and Ambulatory Care Nursing (RN-BC), reflecting her deep commitment to advocating for seniors and ensuring their dignity and quality of life. Inspired by her caregiving experience with her grandmother, Shamika has devoted her career to making elderly patients feel valued. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandmother Joyce. Shamika’s life and career reflect her dedication to compassionate care and community.
